FDM 3D Printing Materials

Below is a selection of our FDM 3D printing materials

PLA

  • If you want to easily achieve high-resolution prints
  • Printing concept models and prototypes when aesthetics and fine details are key
  • When you’re casting metal parts through lost PLA casting
  • PLA isn’t suitable for medium temperature applications (50° C) or long-term outdoor usage.

ASA

  • High outdoor weather ability
  • Chemical resistant
  • Heat resistance
  • High Gloss
  • Good anti-static properties
  • Tough and rigid

ABS

  • Enhanced strength for functional prototypes and manufacturing end-use parts
  • Not suitable for applications where the printed part is exposed to temperatures over 85°C

PETG

PETG is the most commonly used form of PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate), with the G version being a glycol-modified PET, which is a widely used industrial thermoplastic. PETG has strong, durable properties and good heat resistance just like ABS, but easier to print. Parts printed with PETG are not only widely used in the prototyping stage of product development, but also in later stages of function testing and parts assembly. Printed PETG parts have been successfully used in the manufacturing application with or without post-finishing.

NYLON

  • Industrial-grade impact and abrasion resistance
  • Durable
  • High strength-to-weight ratio
  • Low friction coefficient
  • Good corrosion resistance to alkalis and organic chemicals
  • Reduced humidity absorption when compared to other Nylon filaments

POLYCARBONATE

  • High toughness
  • Resists temperatures and retains form up to 110oC
  • Flame retardant characteristics
  • Dimensionally stable
  • Allows printing of translucent parts for lighting applications with a transparent filament option
  • Engineered to be printed at moderate temperatures compared to other PC filaments
  • Minimised warping provides a seamless 3D printing experience
